Halloween may just be the most fun time of year for kids not only because they get to dress up as their favorite superhero, storybook character or princess, but also because of the trick-or-treating. When else can kids get dressed up, knock on neighbors’ doors, say “trick-or-treat” and be rewarded with candy of all different varieties?
According to cityofcharleston.org, the trick-or-treating hours in Charleston will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 31. The hours are fairly early because it is a school night. If you would like to get a head start on the trick-or-treating fun, the Charleston Town Center Mall will be having a trick-or-treat night on Thursday, October 27 from 6-7 p.m. Afterward there will be a costume contest at Macy’s Court at 7:15 p.m.
If you’ve got little ones and you’re looking for the best places to trick-or-treat in Charleston, Harborwoods and Stiles Point Plantation on James Island are reportedly some of the best areas because both areas have many children and therefore lots of trick-or-treaters.
Remember that with kids out and about on Halloween, it’s very important to practice safe driving. Drive under the speed limit on this night and be sure to always stay alert and off of your phone when driving.
